Our educational garden is located in Edna, Tx. surrounding the old jail house which is now a part of the Jackson County history. It is enjoyed by many. It is often visited by occupants from the community, such as day cares, elementary schools, special schools, cub scouts, girl scouts, nursing homes and many more. Those that do come, come at different seasons of the year. It gives them the before and after affects of all the hard work that is put into the beauty of this garden. Also to see what the garden gives back.
The garden is filled with abundance of several different flowers, vegetables, fruit trees and a few large pecan trees that tower the old jail house. These magnificent pecan trees produce great shade for those looking to get out of the hot sun. Under their large branches, sit benches for those wanting to read a good book. One they just picked up from the library next door.
Also, found in the garden is a great water feature for you to hopefully find your zen and relaxation. For your music pleasure, we often have an orchestra of birds. Close your eyes, block out the surrounding sounds, and listen…
The garden gives back to our community and our Master Gardeners in helping the master gardener achieve their membership status. They use the gardens in holding educational classes for the ones that visit from our community. Master gardeners are the ones that make the garden what it is today with their hard work and dedication.
